Katharine Barker studied Textiles and Fashion Design at the Hornsey College of Art, graduating in 1977 with First Class Honours. After undertaking post-graduate study in Finland, she began a career in the museums sector, including the Victoria and Albert Museum, where she joined the Textile Conservation Department. In 1987 she set up her own textile conservation practice in Warwickshire. In 2006, Katharine returned to art school to study painting at the Warwickshire School of Arts. In 2009, she was elected an Associate of the Royal Birmingham Society of Artists, had work included in the “Leamington Open 2009” and her painting, “Image 2009”, was voted The People’s Choice in the Leamington Studio Artists Summer Show. At the end of the year, she exhibited as part of “New Contemporaries 1” at The Bristol Gallery.
