A BEd Hons Degree from Leicester University led to teaching in Leicestershire and the East Midlands. The emphasis of my art practice at this time was sculptural ceramics but my experience was widened through various small commissions for theatre set design and book illustration. On leaving teaching I set up my own studio and work space, initially producing ceramics but latterly returning to painting. I am intensely interested in both the human form and landscape, interaction between them and in their continuing interdependence. My semi-abstract works seek to describe an ‘inhabited place’ whether or not figures are visible. The dynamics between people, or between people and places are often best expressed with ‘additions’ to the painted work in the form of fabric, paper or clay. OPEN EXHIBITIONS: 1994,2001.’04,’05,’06 City Gallery Leicester, 2005 Rugby Art Gallery & Museum. GROUP EXHIBITIONS: Loseby Lane Gallery; ‘Art on the move’ (Coventry and Warwick Visual Arts Festival, European Arts Festival; NW Leics District Council (ceramics); Charnwood Arts ‘Mini Works’ Loughborough (ceramics); Gallery 12 QEII college, Leicester; ‘Remember November’ Frank Haynes Gallery; Lewis Gallery, Rugby; Northants0S in Kelmarsh Hall; Machado Gallery, Barford; Leicester Open Studio 2005; Warwickshire Open Studios 2006 and 2010
