Compton Verney
Warwick
Inspired by the deeply rooted love of rural life, Jane Duppa-Miller’s paintings demonstrate her ability to capture the mood of the moment. She is especially drawn to everyday farm animals, birds and landscapes of the North Cotswolds.
Working exclusively in pastels Jane Duppa-Miller employs a harmonious palette capturing the effect of light, sometimes brilliant sometimes subdued, with firm differentiated tones, often developing the textures into abstraction. Her skill at drawing suggests the essential features of stance, attitude and expression, which not only can create a lively sense of movement, but also imbues her subjects with a psychological animation. Her convincing compositions are frequently close up and cropped, like portraits, concentrating on the inner character in the eyes, which often engage the onlooker.
Jane Duppa-Miller is a Full Member of The Royal Birmingham Society of Artists. She exhibits regularly at The Royal Birmingham Society of Art, The Llewellyn Alexander Gallery in London, The Birmingham Art Circle, The Birmingham and Midland Pastel Society of Arts, The Association of Midland Artists, The Leamington Studio Artists and The Friends of the Mead at Warwick University.
