Mary Buckingham

Mary's favourite subjects are groups of people and still life with flowers, a strong colourist she works to capture the aliveness of things. A cottage is seen as not only a shape but also an interior where someone lives, the spaces around being used and loved.

The activity of people just unfolds, sometimes from a sketch book, but often are remembered scenes. The painting is allowed to develop naturally. Mary's great love is colour through which she finds a way to express her feelings about life.
